Reflecting on 21 Centuries of Faith

Litany of the Sacred Heart

sacred heartThe second Friday after Pentecost has been set aside on the liturgical calendar for the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The mystery of Our Lord’s mercy is revealed in the simple, yet vulnerable, image of His Sacred Heart where the Lord invites all creation to come and enter -regardless of our supernatural state or station in life. In a special way, today is also a day to celebrate the ministerial priesthood of our bishops and priests.

To all our priests, thank you for your “yes” to be transformed into the sacramental presence of Jesus the priest on your ordination day! Because of your selflessness, you now minister in persona Christi et capitas et spousa. May you govern and love us well!

A traditional way for the lay faithful to celebrate this feast is by praying the Litany to the Sacred Heart. Let us pray today, not only for our priests but that the Father of tender mercy would pour-forth his salvific grace through the beautiful heart of His Son that we may obtain the grace necessary to love and be loved.
